Hand, Mouth, and Foot= Miserable Toddler!!!

So Aby was diagnosed with Hand, Mouth and Foot yesterday morning.  I had never heard of it before.  

All I knew is that she had a fever for a day and a half.  Thursday night she woke up at 1 am screaming and saying ouch. At 21 months I was lucky to get the ouch. She never went back to bed, she screamed the whole night!

I figured oh great she has an ear infection. If only it was just an ear infection!!

For those like me who have never heard of this I will describe what the doctor told me.  This is a virus.  Which also means they didn't give me any medicine for her at all! Just give her Ibuprofen for pain and fever. Of course  it is highly contagious.

Okay now for the symptoms.  You get sores, like blisters that can pop and ooze.  Gross I know sorry.  These sores occur in the throat, mouth, hands and feet.  Thus the Hand, Mouth and Foot name.

Oh and don't let that deceive you!  Aby has it on her butt too.  Not as common but the rash and really be anywhere.  It usually lasts about a week.

So the doctor told me that she has seen 20 cases just this week in my town.  The only place I have taken her was the store and pharmacy so one of the two was where she got it.

This normally only happens in kids under 10.  This being said if you weren't exposed as a child you can get it as an adult.  I really don't think I have ever had it.  I really hope I don't get it.

Best way to protect yourself is washing your hands.  I'm very proactive about my girls washing after everything.  I did pull the sanitizer back out.  We wash our hands so much I didn't think we needed it.  Well it is back!

In the time I was writing this my oldest asked me to check her mouth.  Let's change that...now both of my toddlers have it!  Oh no!!
